Back to weaving

Today I put Tim to work weaving the first of the hand-woven skirts for the Fall delivery being shipped next month.  He worked like a maniac, didn’t get up once (I swear I don’t make him do that!) and finished half the first panel in a day, which is a lot faster than I was ever able to do.

Meanwhile I met a new part-time intern who I’ll be introducing next week.  Just a hint, she flew in from a much cooler Scandinavian country yesterday. I feel really bad that she has to deal with this debilitating heatwave in NY on her first day here!

I also placed more Fall production with my NY factory after receiving a few more orders from the showroom.  A little late but since the patterns are already done, and the fabric ordered and sitting in Michelle’s little sample room, there’s still time to get it finished before I have to ship.  This week Michelle worked on the pleated jacket shown below.  It’s made using overstock fabric I found locally in NY with leftover trims from last season.  These will be available at International Playground (NY), Floradora (Chicago), Proper Topper (DC) and Kaight (NY) in August.
