Finally finished the video… here’s what we do at the studio when stress levels rise.  We’re doing a proper photo shoot for the Spring 2012 collection tomorrow.  In the meantime, enjoy our shenanigans!

Film!

Yesterday the Study team worked on a fashion film for next month’s Fashion’s Night Out.  This film is a collaboration between myself and some very talented people who all wanted to come together to do something a little more experimental with fashion film. We shot using a male model wearing pieces from the Fall collection, something I’ve wanted to do for a long time!  The film’s director, Alexandra Roxo, just released her incredibly beautiful debut feature entitled Mary Marie .  And music for this short will be composed by Sonia Manalili, who does all the music for my shows.

I’ve discovered that on short, outdoor shoots, whatever can go wrong usually does.  People oversleep, props don’t work, the sun doesn’t want to cooperate. We postponed the first shot of the day because the light at our location was too bright.  When we finally got around to that shot later in the day it began to pour torrentially.  But we powered through it and got it done, and I think the film will be all the more beautiful for it!

When the stress of developing a collection began to take its toll on everyone at the studio (myself mostly), I figured it was time to let off some steam and create something at the same time.  In an ode to McQueen, though perhaps a little less elegant, we put on painters coveralls, loaded up our water guns with fabric dye and let loose on one of the Study Hall samples!

The process got us thinking about Study’s part in the upcoming Fashions Night Out and I think we came up with a pretty brilliant idea even if I say so myself.  Stay tuned for details, it’s going to be great!

Putting the finishing (spray dye) touches on the Spring 12 collection today!  Can’t wait to get this finished and out the door!
