To celebrate Fall International Playground has curated a collaboration between Osborn and all of their designers. We each got to design a shoe using the classic Osborn oxford shape. These shoes are being produced in limited editions of 12 pairs per designer. In our case, we went a little crazy and designed 12 different pairs, so no two are exactly alike… meaning each pair is unique and one of a kind!
Designers who created the shoes include:
Mary Meyer, Chromat, H Fredriksson, Upstate, RHLS, Soulland, Capsule and of course STUDY!
They will be released tomorrow evening, September 8th, at International Playground for Fashion’s Night Out. But get there early if you want a pair, I have a feeling they’ll disappear quickly (and I think I’ll have something to do with that!)
Meet the new crop of Study Hall designers. The first big difference in the Study Hall program for this year is that participants designed pieces that were incorporated directly into the Spring 12 collection. Meet the team:
Maayan Gutfeld (top left) is studying textile design in Israel and has been in New York for the Summer. She worked on different print and dye techniques on both the 4-way dress and sleeveless shirt. She also has some hand printed tees at International Playground this week, if you can’t wait for the Spring 12 styles!
Denize Sofia Maaloe (top center, designer not pictured) is also studying textile design at FIT. She helped me work on a pleating technique I’ve been wanting to try out for a long time, and then she took it to a whole new level with spray dyeing and embroidery.
Geneva Sessums (top right, not pictured) was in New York for a very brief period earlier this Summer before returning to her studies in Richmond, Virginia, but she left us with this zero-waste dress made from a double-faced organic cotton.
Juewls Amelia (bottom left) aka Julianne Margiotta is now my part-time assistant after interning with me last Summer for the inaugural Study Hall program. She made this dress in 3 different fabrics, as well as a matching blouse. Study wouldn’t be the same without her, she keeps me sane!
Laura Poole (bottom center) was introduced to me by her former professor and my good friend Timo Rissanen from Parsons. She just moved to New York from Sydney, Australia where she studied textile and fashion design. She created this zero-waste vest in organic cotton jersey as well as in a recycled poly print she developed with Airdye for the collection.
Tim Ditzig (bottom right) was also part of the first round of Study Hall. In fact it was thanks to a suggestion from Tim that I decided to integrate the designers’ pieces into the Spring 12 collection rather than present them separately. For this round, Tim hand painted a space-dyed cotton from India we found on Source 4 Style.
Some more pics from the F11 film I worked on with Alexandra Roxo and Bahar Shahpar. We will be premiering it on Fashion’s Night Out at Condor boutique on Elizabeth street. Stay tuned for the official invite, but in the meantime save the date and be sure to come by!
Finally finished the video… here’s what we do at the studio when stress levels rise. We’re doing a proper photo shoot for the Spring 2012 collection tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy our shenanigans!
